red-giraffe-recruitment-and-search-make-sure-your-job-matches-your-skillsThe excitement of chasing regular pay and a desk in the commercial world can be all consuming for university graduates. Yet when seeking graduate employment, focusing too much on these interview elements can blind you to the bigger picture: actually landing a job you want and need.

Too many graduates quickly find themselves in roles where they are either not challenged enough or stressed because they don’t have the skills to keep up with their job demands.

At Red Giraffe Recruitment and Search, we understand the requirement of individuals and provide effective interview techniques that help graduates to get desired job.

Before leaping at the newspaper job advertisements, take the time to interrogate yourself about the nature of your ideal job. Think not just about job title, but about what elements would most excite you, and what would deter you from fronting up each day.

Be clear about your own strengths and weaknesses and what kind of work environment would best accommodate both. Think about what kind of activities most interest you, what you value in other people (this will dictate with which kind of management you can work), which personality type you are, and how you apply yourself to tasks. The answer to each question will help you build a very solid template of what you will need from any job you seek, regardless of its salary.

You may be in a position where you are leaving a job you dislike. This is a perfect opportunity to examine exactly why it is that you are leaving, and to use that understanding to tailor your job search in the right direction.

Also, expect success in your job search. There will be graduate employment opportunities out there that will work for you; it’s just a matter of taking the time and effort to sift carefully through until you strike gold. If you view your job search as a dull process through which you must trudge until the next door opens – whatever shape that door may be – then chances are you will end up in another position that doesn’t serve your needs.
